ABOUT ME
I am an acrylic artist based in York, with a passion for wildlife and nature. My artistic journey began in 2021, learning basic acrylic techniques with short courses from Will Kemp Art School. Since then, I have been pursuing a bright and bold modern impressionist style following tuition by Ali Kay Studio, after falling in love with the expressive and freeing techniques.
In my work, I use vivid colours from a limited palette, and complementary underpainting to create vibrant and cohesive art works. I’m particularly passionate about painting nature and animals, capturing their essence with both expressive bold brushstrokes and stunning colour. Birds are a particular favourite of mine, and I continue to explore floral and further nature-related subjects along with new challenges, to continue to develop my artistic skills.
WHERE TO FIND MY ARTWORK
I have exhibited my art at a number of venues around York and nearby including Nunnington Hall, Fabrication, Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens, Holy Trinity Church Leeds (Art in Your Eyes exhibition) and North Light Centre Leeds. I have hosted stalls at a number of local fairs, including the York River Art Market.
I sell my art greetings cards in my local shop Taylor's of Acomb, and my paintings, prints, and other printed items are stocked at Art & Soul Hub in Leeds (Queen's Arcade - also available online here).
SUPPORT FOR CHARITIES
Supporting charities is very important to me, and so I have used my art to raise funds for a number of causes close to my heart - I've raffled pet portraits and donated art for the benefit of the RSPCA York where I got my two rescue cats and Yappy Ever After Dog Rescue where I got my rescue dog.
In 2024 I created a 12-piece collection of Yorkshire landscape paintings to sell to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Dementia UK, and I have since supported Barnardo's. I was honoured to participate in the Anonymous HeART Project raising over £200 for Heart Research UK in 2025, and the Postcard Art Exhibit in the Netherlands this year which is raising funds for an Alzheimer's-related project.
I am excited to have joined the Association of Animal Artists this year, and will be participating in their Charity Auction in aid of the Wildwood Trust.
